At Plant Lipids, sustainability is central to everything we do. Our success is driven by comprehensive initiatives spanning environmental stewardship, community development, and responsible sourcing.
Nurture 360
A pioneering community initiative aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, Nurture 360 embraces three key dimensions—Environmental, Farming Community, and CSR- reflecting our commitment to creating a positive, multifaceted impact.
Core Elements of Our Sustainability Framework
Environmental Sustainability
We generate wind and solar energy to reduce carbon emissions and save water through rain harvest and recycling.
Sustainable Agriculture & Farmer Collaboration
We lead responsible farming through contract farming, farmer training, and eco-friendly practices like Integrated Pest Management in our Chilli Program. Beyond cultivation, we uplift farmer communities with education, healthcare, and awareness. Partnering with Telangana’s Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty, we empower Khammam’s rural communities with sustainable livelihood programs—driving real, lasting impact.
NURTURE 360 Chilli Programme – Responsible Sourcing & Farmer Collaboration
From Farm Level Procurement to Regenerative Agriculture (2021 onwards)
What began in 2021 as a supply chain initiative has evolved into one of India’s most comprehensive spice sustainability programmes. Plant Lipids’ NURTURE 360 Chilli Programme operates across Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, partnering directly with smallholder chilli farmers to build transparent, equitable and sustainable supply chains.
Programme Highlights:
- 15,210 farmers partnered at peak
- 21,283 acres under programme
- 406 villages across 3 states
- USD 53.5 million paid directly to farmers (2022 onwards), reducing farmer dependence on intermediaries
- 80 to 102 Village Level Procurement Centres (VLPCs), bringing the market within 3 km of every farmer
- Payment cycles reduced from up to three months to within 72 hours
- 399,000+ new jute bags distributed free to farmers across four seasons
- 100% Women Farmer Management Groups under specific FS programme
- Sustainability Premium for partners and farmers
Three-Phase Journey:
- Phase 1 (2021): Farm Level Procurement – direct sourcing, VLPCs, transparent weighing, rapid payment
- Phase 2 (2022-‘23): IPM Farming Programme – integrated pest management, reduced chemical inputs, satellite crop monitoring
- Phase 3 (2024 onwards): Regenerative Agriculture – zero synthetic inputs, bio-pesticides, intercropping, soil health restoration
Soil Health Results:
Soil health monitoring across 39 sites in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh shows measurable improvement in soil organic carbon and microbial biomass under regenerative practices. Independent soil analysis conducted through the Karnataka State Government Horticulture Department laboratory confirms organic carbon levels at the upper boundary of the medium range across programme farms.
Key Partners:
- Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP), Government of Telangana – partnership since 2021
- Be’nishan Farmer Producer Company – women-led FPC, Telangana
